MetLife v. Glenn

In the case of MetLife v. Glenn, Wanda Glenn, a long term disability policy holder who was denied benefits, filed suit against MetLife for denying her claim. After the district court ruled in favor of MetLife’s decision, Glenn appealed to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.  The appeals court determined that MetLife had a conflict of interest in denying her benefits as both the one who evaluates her disability and the one that funds the policy.

The Supreme Court considered whether the Appeals Court was correct in factoring in MetLife’s apparent conflict of interest in making their determination.
